I've been working on the storyline lately and I've come to an important part. I can't decide if the main character should die and you play then as his younger brother or not. Heres how it would happen if that did happen.
The youngest brother would meet the oldest brother who is working in the anarchists group. The oldest brother is than discussing how the youngest brother has the potential to use aura but hasn't done it yet. Just as you walk in the oldest brother is preparing to kill the youngest brother because he fails to agree to go and join the group. The middle brother, dumbstruck that his older brother is there sits confused at what is happening. The oldest brother glances at the middle brother and then shoots a ray and the youngest brother. Before the ray could reach him however, the middle brother jumps in front of it and dies. The youngest brother, awestruck at what just happens just sits there, but in the middle brothers last breath he tells him to run. Take into account that the older brother wouldn't know who the youngest is nor would the youngest to the oldest, only the middle brother would know whats really going on. Then after the main characters dead the youngest brother would become the main character.
Thats one way it could work out, but I'm thinking of other ways at the moment.

So do you think I should have the main character die and you play as his younger brother? Because the way I see it is the main character is you so watching yourself die and seeing how your younger brother deals with it would be pretty sad but thats just me. What do you guys think we should do? Oh and one of the reasons I'm thinking this shouldn't happen is because in the beginning it gets you connected to all the characters and thats the main point of the beginning, to introduce the player to the game. And it's supposed to feel very pleasant and happy and then the dad dies and it cuts to the mayors son and the game becomes more dreary(but still a little light hearted) And then it cuts back to the main character, so thats why I can't decide to kill the main character or not when the whole games been about him being you, and then his little brother taking his place would be a little hard to impliment because his little brother hasn't made as much of a connection at this point because he wasn't present until the part with the mayors son.
On a different note, if you guys want to hear the whole story just tell me and I'll email it to you later. I don't want to spoil anything after all.

Ok guys we need to make this game. As far as gameplay goes I wonder if it would be possible to create diagonal walking/attacking in a zelda esque game or would it be to hard? I know this would take a little more to implement but it would be more dynamic. Also I'm making progress on the story!

Oh and back to the subject of magic/aura. I think we should have it so that when you hold down a certain button all the other buttons change, like in castle crashers. If you don't know what castle crashers is then, the way it works is that in that game square and triangle usually do melee attacks, but when you hold down R2 you start to sort of glow, and when your glowing if you press square or triangle it will do a magic attack.
